Cardio Renal Metabolic Medicine: Adopting a Holistic Approach

09 Oct 2024
GP Clinical Theatre 2

CKD will be the 5th leading cause of non-communicable death globally by 2040 with a UK prevalence rate of >10%.

New therapies can slow the rate of decline of kidney function but we are not implementing guidelines that would save lives.

This session will explore the rising prevalence of CKD, the impact on patient outcomes as well as strategies to optimise the care of people living with kidney disease.

  • To understand the growing significance of CKD as a cardiovascular risk factor
  • To reflect on the impact of CKD has on decision making regarding management of co-existing conditions
  • To recap on current guidance regarding the optimisation and management of CKD care
Speakers
Jim Burton, Professor of Renal Medicine and Consultant Nephrologist - University of Leicester
