Putting the common sense back into clinical supervision: Supporting multi-professional educators in primary care
This presentation aims to share how the Yorkshire and Humber Primary Care Educator Team are addressing workforce issues by increasing access to quality supervision training for staff. Learners in primary care do not currently receive equitable forms of support and supervision; this can be profession dependent, with often variable requirements for supervision roles particularly relating to supervision of clinicians recruited through the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme
Due to an increased drive for multi-professional working across primary care and increasing demand for placements, supervisors of all types being asked to supervise other professions without the full knowledge of their supervision requirements.
The NHSE WTE Primary Care Directorate in Yorkshire and Humber is working together to devise a unified approach to clinical and educational supervision training and support which fulfils the needs of both GPs and other clinicians working in a primary care setting.
