Many clinicians and social prescribers lack confidence in their knowledge and skills to support self management, hence more drugs prescribed than is safe and helpful. GOTT and Ten Footsteps approach changed practice; so more self management, less medicines and happier patients and clinicians, and more use of social prescribing.
