Developing a sustainable First Contact Practitioner Supervisor community in Primary Care
With the rise of new roles in Primary Care since the introduction of the ARR Scheme, FCP have been one of the attractive roles across allied health professionals. Career progression for AHP's and the opportunity for Advanced practice in primary care has become clearer since the implementation of the FCP roadmap and modules at HEIs. Clinical supervision for clinicians undergoing the roadmap and ongoing supervision in Primary Care is paramount due to the natural of the roles; requiring a well designed, rigorous supervisor programme for patient safety and clinical outcomes. Managing supervisees can be difficult as well as the pressure of a difficult caseload, with no set standard of how much supervision is enough or the type of supervision we all should be doing. The session will give you an overview of South Yorkshires approach to supporting FCPs in Primary Care.
