12 Oct 2023
GP Clinical Theatre 2

Every year in the UK around 12,300 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour. There are around 5,500 deaths due to brain tumours every year in the UK, more than 100 deaths every week. Brain tumours kill more people under the age of 40 than any other cancer. This session covers the symptoms and signs of brain cancer for primary care. We also go over the red flags for brain cancer. We cover the NICE guidance and go over the GP direct access to brain imaging pathway for Birmingham and Solihull ICB. We end with some case studies.

  • Review of signs and symptoms of suspected brain cancer
  • Understanding the red flags for suspected brain cancer
  • Understanding the GP direct access pathways for brain imaging.
