Let’s talk about fertility

Every year the NHS spends around £68m on IVF treatment. Over the years the average age of starting a family has steading increased and yet we know that female fertility declines rapidly after the age of 35. How well do we educate our patients about factors that influence their fertility and how do we support patients to decide when is the right time to start thinking about starting a family? This talk is aimed at equipping and supporting colleagues on how to approach fertility queries in primary care, what initial investigations to consider and when to refer. We will also look at the impact of other health issues on fertility. The talk will include evidence based guidance and the importance of inclusion and exlusion criteria when referring for IVF treatment.
