Social media and effect on eating disorders

12 Oct 2023
Best Practice in Nursing Theatre
Since the end of the pandemic Eating Disorders in the whole are on the rise significantly and this has shown particularly to be the case within young people. Young people of below 12 years old are now accessing social media where as the mean age previously was 14. As the brain is not fully developed in this young age these people are becoming more influenced by social media and thus developing eating disorders. One particular way this is seen is within young people who may have a neurodiversity background within the family where they may have ‘black or white thinking’
