Grassroots doctors voice concern over NHS 10-Year Health Plan
)
A new survey by the BMA has revealed unease among frontline doctors in England about the government’s 10-Year Health Plan. Many respondents questioned whether current resources, staffing levels, and funding commitments are sufficient to deliver the ambition set out for the next decade.
Key worries include unsustainable workloads, worsening morale, and the risk that overstretched primary care teams will not be able to meet rising patient demand. Doctors also highlighted the need for meaningful investment in general practice and wider system support if reforms are to succeed.
The findings echo long-running challenges: balancing clinical delivery with digital transformation, integrating new ARRS roles effectively, and sustaining patient access amidst workforce shortages.
These concerns will be central to discussions at Best Practice Birmingham, where sessions on workforce, leadership, and neighbourhood health will explore what the 10-Year Health Plan really means in practice.
