Identifying and diagnosing common sleep disorders in primary care (with a focus on insomnia)

Respiratory Skills Theatre
Sleep problems are one of the most common issues seen in primary care, yet they are often under-recognised or managed with short-term fixes that don’t address the underlying disorder. This session will equip GPs and other primary care clinicians with practical tools to identify and differentiate between common sleep disorders, with a particular focus on insomnia. We will explore how to take an effective sleep history, use simple screening questions, and recognise red flags for more complex conditions. Delegates will leave with confidence in managing insomnia in line with current evidence and guidelines, including knowing when referral or additional support is appropriate.
