Key responsibilities.

Clinical assessment and intervention.

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional capabilities to determine their needs and goals.
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans designed to improve patients' daily living skills, functional independence, and overall well-being.
  • Utilise a variety of therapeutic techniques and modalities to address diverse conditions, including musculoskeletal disorders, neurological impairments, and mental health issues.

Patient-centred care.

  • Provide expert guidance and support to patients and their families, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care and rehabilitation.
  • Educate patients on adaptive techniques, assistive devices, and environmental modifications to enhance their independence and participation in everyday activities.

Multidisciplinary collaboration.

  • Work closely with GPs, physiotherapists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated and holistic care.
  • Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and care planning sessions to ensure coordinated and effective treatment strategies.

Rehabilitation and recovery.

  • Design and deliver rehabilitation programmes tailored to individual patient needs, focusing on improving functional outcomes and supporting recovery.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to optimise results and address any emerging issues.

Community engagement.

  • Contribute to community health initiatives and public health campaigns, promoting awareness of occupational therapy and its benefits.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with NHS policies, care quality commission (CQC) standards, and general data protection regulation (GDPR) requirements.
