Aamena developed her interest in Women’s Health as a GP registrar in Birmingham. She completed the FSRH and DRCOG during her training and subsequently went on to complete Community Gynaecology Diploma and Diagnostic Hysteroscopy Diploma from Bradford University. She was given the opportunity to pilot a new Gynaecology service as part of the Vanguard 5 year Forward Plan project. 4 years on that service is still running and commissioned via SWBH NHS Trust. The team has now expanded and Aamena has had the opportunity to train other GPs and Nurses to join the team. She is also in the process of setting up Modality Training Academy to replicate the training provided within Modality Community Services to other Primary Care staff wishing to develop a specialist interest.
