InDependent Diabetes Trust
Abban currently works in primary care as a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist/First Contact Physiotherapist and injection therapist primarily managing undiagnosed and undifferentiated musculoskeletal pathologies in combination with building excellent patient-centred multi-professional care plans, incorporating the requesting of clinical contextualisation of various radiological and haematological investigations and administering corticosteroid joint injections. Having worked across different specialities within the physiotherapy profession over the last 10 years, Abban has been privileged enough to work alongside many trail- blazing and renowned physiotherapists which have all contributed to his clinical skill set, diverse experience and underpinning knowledge acquisition as well as driving him to win an award for Exceptional Patient Focus in 2018. Gaining experience in these diverse areas has not only been a privilege for him, but they have also enhanced his clinical and intellectual skills immeasurably as well as perpetuating him to embark upon specialised leading roles within the field of Physiotherapy as well as helping to develop training modules and appropriate peer to peer based supervision processes for various organisations. He has also developed a profound interest in speaking at conferences nationally and enjoys fostering continuous learning and improvement aligning with his passions and expertise. Through immense exposure to Diabetes within primary care, he has developed a tangible passion and interest over the years in how exercise and physical activity can impact on Diabetes and how he can deliver physiotherapeutic care insightfully and efficaciously under the pressures, demands and time constraints in primary care.
