Alex McGarvey is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Queen's Nurse, and one of the few nurses in England to hold the dual leadership roles of Nurse Partner and Clinical Director within general practice. Based at Lea Vale Medical Group in Luton, a large multi-site Deep End practice serving one of England's most socioeconomically deprived communities, Alex champions the role of nursing in addressing health inequalities, demonstrating how general practice nursing can influence not only individual patient care but also population health, service transformation and system leadership. As Clinical Director, Alex provides strategic leadership across her Primary Care Network, working collaboratively with partners across primary, community and voluntary sectors to develop integrated neighbourhood approaches. As a Nurse Partner, she is passionate about creating opportunities for nurses to influence decision-making at the highest level, building ambitious nursing teams and demonstrating the value that nursing leadership brings to modern general practice. Through her national speaking and leadership roles, she advocates for unlocking the untapped potential of the nursing workforce, challenging traditional perceptions of leadership and promoting nursing as an equal partner in shaping the future of primary care.
