
Dr Balraj Mavi
GP with Special Interest in Diabetes and Urology,
Wordsley Green Surgery and West Birmingham Diabetes Lead
Dr Mavi completed medicine at Nottingham University, following this he finished GP training at Sandwell, Black Country.
He soon became West Birmingham Diabetes Lead, following a completion of his Diabetes Diploma. He has been a partner at Wordsley Green Surgery since January 2022 and works as a lead GP at two Birmingham surgeries to assist with workflow and patients with diabetes.
Dr Mavi has developed an special interest within cardiometabolic medicine and diabetes. He has always looked to make change and innovate primary care. Recent projects were lipid lowering review by secondary prevention. This is being performed at PCN level in currently two PCNs. He has arranged diabetic review clinics for his PCN and has pushed ahead with population health management and shared the PARM tool to allow surgeries to better find patient who need addressing and who are falling behind target with diabetes.
Dr Mavi has performed local reviews of high kidney risk patient by creating a system risk tool to reflect KFRE allowing identification of such patients.
Dr Mavi has worked to provide education locally, regionally and nationally to discuss diabetes, lipids and DOACs.
