Ileostomy & Internal Pouch Association
Caroline Bramwell is the PR & Communications Manager for the registered charity ‘Ileostomy & Internal Pouch Association’ (IA) and has lived with a permanent ileostomy for 14 years after suffering with Ulcerative Colitis. From a couch potato before surgery, she turned to sport to aid her recovery and took on a 24hr endurance cycle from London to Paris just a year after surgery. She continued to push boundaries by taking up swimming and now competes in triathlon, right up to Full Ironman.
Her role at IA fulfils her passion to help improve the care and lifestyle of those living with a stoma or internal pouch. She sits on the Board of the European Ostomy Association and is the Secretary for the International Ostomy Association Co-ordination Committee. Caroline also sits on the Board of IBD UK and is one of the Board members of the GIFRT project ‘Delivering an evidence based stoma care patient pathway’.
