Gil Ramsden is a Leeds-trained nurse, midwife and General Practice Nursing (GPN) leader whose 42-year career spans primary care, community health services and social care. From her early GPN days helping to establish a new GP practice from a portacabin to leading one of the largest nursing teams in the country, Gil has held strategic roles across the North East and Yorkshire, the North West and the Midlands, helping to strengthen workforce development, education and integrated care. As Professional Lead for General Practice Nursing in Leeds, she works to strengthen and develop the nursing workforce, support career progression and expand the influence of GPNs across the wider health and care system. She is particularly passionate about raising the voice and visibility of GPNs, creating opportunities for professional influence and supporting the development of future nursing leaders. Gil is currently authoring a book exploring the realities of modern GPN through the experiences of nursing team members working across the profession.
