Olivia Butterworth
Participatory Practitioner,
All About People
Olivia has recently left her role as Deputy Director People and Communities at NHS England to embark on a freelance career focussing on what she is passionate about - people and communities being involved to transform our health and care system to focus on what matters to people, their families and communities. She has held senior-level roles at NHS England, central and local government, the voluntary sector and as a volunteer. Well-known as an innovator and disruptor – whilst at the Department of Health she transformed their approach to voluntary sector relationships and funding – she supports individuals and organisations to push the boundaries of what is believed to be possible. She is driven by an unshakeable conviction that the power of people, and the communities they are a part of, is the missing jigsaw piece in the development, delivery and sustainability of our public services. A skilled practitioner, policy maker and leader Olivia has exemplary communication skills and welcomes engaging in the uncomfortable conversations to drive change. Olivia is a Non-Executive Director of Local Care Direct, the National Advisor on working with people and communities for the Complete Care Communities Programme and has held Trustee positions at a number of charities.
