Director of Professional Leadership for Improvement Science, NHS England and NHS Improvement
Robert is a GP in inner city Manchester, and a national catalyst for transformation and improvement in healthcare. He has a background in researching and leading quality improvement at local, city and national level. Over the last decade, Robert has been at the forefront of developing national policy for commissioning, integrated care, primary care transformation and leadership of improvement. He designs and delivers leadership development programmes for leaders of transformation and improvement. At NHS England he established one of the world’s largest primary care innovation programmes, overseeing new investment of £130m. In the new national Improvement Directorate of NHS England and NHS Improvement, Robert is the Director of Professional Leadership for Improvement Science, responsible for developing capabilities and communities of practice for leadership of transformation and improvement, as well as advancing the science of change leadership in healthcare.
