Independent Travel Health Specialist Nurse
Sandra is an independent travel health specialist nurse. Her interest in Travel Medicine began in 1991, moving from clinical practice to an educational role in 2006. Sandra has been an active RCN forum member since 2000, holding several offices. She is a committee member and travel health lead for the public health forum (PHF), representing the RCN on travel health related issues nationally and internationally. She is co-chair of the Steering Group, Northern European Conference on Travel Medicine (NECTM), a biennial conference focused on education for travel health practitioners. She is active in several travel medicine bodies, a Fellow and current chair of the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM) Publications Oversight Committee (POC). She is a Fellow of the Faculty of Travel Medicine (FTM), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow RCPS(Glasg) and external examiner for the Diploma in Travel Health at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM). Sandra is involved in developing guidance for nurses in travel health services, forging links and collaborating with nurses around the world to support their practice. Sandra also enjoys writing, organising and attending travel health conferences.
