Smruta qualified from Goa University, India and moved to UK in 1998. She undertook training Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Northwest of England, NorthEast of England and Scotland where she was an academic trainee. Smruta then undertook subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology in Middlesbrough in North Yorkshire and became a consultant Gynaecological Oncologist in Glasgow until Jan 2019. She is now a consultant gynaecological Oncologist at University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire since Feb 2019.
Smruta is passionate about the care provided to women to prevent and treat gynaecological cancer. She has taken on the role of Chair of the Gynaecology Expert Advisory group and lead for the clinical improvement pathway for gynaecology for the West Midlands Cancer Alliance.
Smruta also chairs the task and Finish group for PMB and strongly believes in collaboration of all stakeholders for establishing a healthy pathway using robust evidence and local agreement.
