Prof Tom Yates is an academic within the Diabetes Research Centre, University of Leicester, UK. He completed his PhD in 2008 at Loughborough University. He works across a broad portfolio of physical activity and lifestyle research from early phase experimental research through to implementing diabetes prevention lifestyle programmes within routine primary care. Prof Yates is a co-lead of the Lifestyle theme within the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre where ongoing research is investigating how physical behaviours, from sleep to physical activity, can be used as therapies in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease. Prof Yates has published over 200 articles and holds several prestigious research grants.
